Peru
I am currently living in Cusco, Peru, working as an English teacher. During my time here I hope to really get to know the city, the country, the culture, the people, the language. I am so excited to explore as much as I can and experience living in another country instead of just travelling there.

Bolivia
Bolivia has definitely become one of my favourite countries I have been too, and I’m not entirely sure I can explain why. From the incredible salt flats and gorgeous surrounding areas, to the beautiful buildings in Sucre, the perfect craziness of La Paz, and the peacefulness of Isle Del Sol in Lake Titicaca, Bolivia gave me more than I expected. Of course, it also gave me food poisoning, but that’s a price I would gladly pay again for all the memories I got there.
Chile
I spent a couple weeks exploring the Northern part of Chile – Santiago, Valparaiso, Vina Del Mar, and San Pedro De Atacama. Valparaiso is a beautiful city full of colour and art, it was so fun to wander the streets here and discover hidden gems around every corner! Vina Del Mar is a lovely and relaxing beach town. San Pedro is situated in the Atacama desert, and on top of being a gateway to so many desert adventures, it is also a really unique and nice town to spend time in. In the area are salty lagoons to float in, the appropriately named valley of the moon, some of the highest altitude geysers in the world, and so much more.
I have done so much exploring of my home country, especially during the pandemic when international travel wasn’t an option for me. I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful country surrounded by nature. Canada is the perfect country for getting out into the great outdoors, whether you’re hiking in Banff, canoeing in Northwestern Ontario, surfing in Tofino, or skiing in Revelstoke, you will be surrounded by so much natural beauty. Plus it is a great destination for road tripping and living out of a car/van – something I have spent more than 5 months doing over the last couple of years.
Before I went to Iceland I knew it was going to be gorgeous, but I don’t think I could comprehend just how gorgeous it is until I saw it for myself. The landscape and natural beauty here is unlike anything I have ever seen before. From lava fields to geysers, hot springs to waterfalls, volcanoes to glaciers, black sand beaches to craters, Icelandic horses to delicious seafood, and the blue lagoon to the Northern Lights, Iceland truly has it all. First I spent a week in October exploring the south east, then in April I went back to do the ring road and see more of the natural beauty Iceland has to offer!
Turkey
I got to meet my dad in Turkey for 2 weeks of travelling around. We explored the lively and historical city of Istanbul, from the Hagia Sophia to Galata Tower, took a road trip thorough the country, saw the incredible landscapes, caves and hot air balloons of Cappadocia, wandered through the travertines of Pamukkale, saw the ancient cities of Hierapolis and Troy, tried the local cuisine, and petted a lot of cats! Turkey is a country jammed packed with history, culture, and natural beauty.
Nepal is truly a country that stole my heart. I enjoyed its beauty in so many different ways. Highlights included three weeks trekking in the Annapurna range, relaxing by the lake in Pokhara, walking through the jungle in Chitwan National Park, a wonderful homestay, a relaxing meditation retreat and meeting many kind locals. This was my first time doing such a long trek and it was such a wonderful experience to see the world and the seasons changing at walking pace, from summer to fall to winter and back to summer again. And then it was so interesting to go from the snowy mountains to the jungles in and around Chitwan Natural Park. Plus, as a huge animal lover, seeing wild rhinos, monkeys, crocodiles, tons of bird species, a python, and huge (and in one case still wet) tiger paw prints was really special for me. Afterwards, I headed to a small farming town about an hour and a half from Kathmandu for a homestay where I got to meet so many lovely people and get a glimpse into the lives of the locals. Finally, I ended my time in Nepal at a meditation retreat where I learned and practiced many different techniques, and again met so many kind souls. But I think it would be hard to go anywhere in Nepal and not meet wonderful people. My two months here were so amazing, I already know I’ll be back one day for sure!
Thailand
I saw so much variety in this country, from downtown Bangkok to a Buddhist monastery in the forest to a camping on an almost private island. I visited a lot of temples, drove my first motorbike, practiced meditation, fell in love with some gentle giants (elephants), had amazing beach time, and even got a new tattoo! This was also my first time travelling solo and I learned so much from the experience. I would definitely recommend Thailand to all types of travelers, especially solo travelers!
Laos
I fell in love with the people and the scenery here. Beautiful boats rides, long and dark cave explorations, walks through rice fields, being made flower jewelry by children with no shared language, many cute dogs, butterflies and dragonflies in numbers I've never seen before and a motorbike loop filled with gorgeous waterfalls. I honestly could not have asked for more from this amazing country. Also part of my first solo travel trip (with Thailand), and with more opportunities to get 'off the beaten track,' Laos will always hold a special place in my heart. Often left out of itineraries for trips in Southeast Asia in favour of it's more popular neighbours (Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia), I would strongly urge you to consider making Laos a priority if you find yourself in that part of the world.
Ireland
To me, going to Ireland felt like stepping into a movie. Between the castles, both in the form of beautiful ruins and recreated museums, the rugged coastal landscapes, the abundance of pubs, and the lively music and dance scene, Ireland truly has something for everyone. Whether I was hiking by the ocean, wandering the streets of Dublin, exploring the country side, imagining myself in medieval times as I walked through a castle, or watching Irish dancers while sipping on a Guinness, I was certainly far from bored.
Guatemala
My first taste of Central America has me itching to go back. Highlights include: spending a night on top of the Volcano Acatenango watching the eruptions of Fuego, relaxing days spent by the water of Lake Atitlan, wandering through the biggest market in Central America Chichicastenango, and exploring the ruins of the ancient city of Tikal.
Hawaii
Even though I know it's just a state, I feel like Hawaii is country of it's own. The scenery and landscapes of Kauai are absolutely stunning, from sandy beaches, to bamboo fields, jagged cliffs, and gorgeous waterfalls - I recommend the Nepali Coast trail to get a glimpse of it all! And in Honolulu the contrast between big city and big sandy ocean beaches is so unique. Definitely worth a visit!
